 - Triangular

The Triangular distribution requires only three estimates of the random varianble. The smallest value, the most likely value and the largest value. The equations to the left are for the case when the range is [0, 1]. In general the range is specified as [a, b]. The mode, or most likely value must be between a and b.

Example: The example shows the worksheet form defining the figure above. The form accepts values for the three parameters.

The figure below shows an application of triangular distributions for Project Management. The random variables are placed horizontally on the worksheet in columns G through J. Column N computes the activity times as the mean values of the triangular distributions.
